About me
The first time I came to Barcelona (spring, 1999) it was a bit weird for me. That time meant the first time I crossed the Atlantic Ocean to meet Europe. My trip was going to last about one month and I was feeling a bit sad because I knew then that the most of those days I’d be at Barcelona instead of Paris as I really was wishing then.
However I still remember how soon I felt in love with Barcelona. It was love at a first sight for me. I found everything magic and special. I realized that all I was waiting to find it was here. In some way I would say that I did not choose Barcelona but Barcelona chose me. And I knew it at the same moment I went to Paris again.
Yes, Paris is a beautiful city too, but I couldn’t help to feel that I left something special behind me just where Barcelona was. It was in that moment that I knew I would come back to Barcelona someday.
And I did! I live in Barcelona since spring of 2003 with my wife, who has family here too. We opened and managed our own tiny restaurant; we don’t keep that business anymore, but I plan to open a new place here someday. I know this: If my business goes well here it can go well anywhere else. I can’t help it.
There’s a special relationship between this city and me. I feel I live a lot of lives here. Even those lives I can’t live, if you know what I mean… I really doubt this magic could be also found on other places. Have you tried coming to Barcelona just for one time? I wonder if such thing is possible.
Why Barcelona?
- Living at Barcelona is a magical experience. I can’t help to feel something special about the city.
- It seems Barcelona is in your mind all the time, never mind if you’re here or not. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and pay attention carefully. Don’t you hear it too? (Barcelona… Barcelona… Barcelona…) Barcelona is waiting for you.
- Living here makes me feel both I have to learn a lot from this city and this city has to learn some things from me too.
- Barcelona’s changing in some way. Barcelona becomes something else, something bigger and better every day.
- There’s a Barcelona for every “you” you are. Everyone’s invited to try this magical truth.
